Teen Volunteer Opportunities:

Teen Library Council (TLC)
The Teen Library Council (TLC) is a safe space for teens to voice their opinions for the Library.
The Teen Library Council is open to individuals in grades 6-12. All participants will receive volunteer hours for attending. TLC Meetings are held in the Teen Space on the First Thursday of the Month.

Joining TLC gives you the opportunity to:

  • Represent and advocate for the teen community at the Berkeley Heights Public Library
  • Help the Library decide what materials to purchase, services to offer and what events and activities you want to attend
  • Serve your community, and make the Library a place for teens to learn and have fun

Volunteer Sessions:
Teen Volunteer opportunities are for interested individuals priority goes to individuals in grades 9-12 and previous volunteers. There will be 2 hour volunteer sessions for groups to complete tasks. Interested individuals will have to apply using the volunteer application below; once applications are received volunteers will receive information about volunteer opportunities. There will be volunteer sessions where volunteers complete tasks; volunteer tasks will only be given during these sessions. Walk in/ spontaneous volunteering will not be allowed, due to staff limitations. Tasks will change each time, and will be based on the needs of the Library. Example tasks include: assembling take and make crafts, tasks within the Teen Space, and administrative tasks.
